Punjabi simmer sauces · Made in Austin, Texas
Curried Away Simmer Sauces
The same simmer sauces we cook with for our private chef guests — jarred, so you can make the same dinner on a weeknight. Browse the lineup below to read the story behind each one and pull up its recipe card.
Tikka Sauce
8 oz jar
Tikka Sauce
chicken or paneer
The one most people order without even knowing its name — a butter-and-tomato base simmered low and slow until it turns silky, then rounded out with a touch of cream. Rich, gently tangy, and always the crowd favorite.
Malai Sauce
8 oz jar
Malai Sauce
chicken, paneer or mushrooms
Cashew paste makes this one taste richer than it is — mild and creamy, finished with fresh ginger and cilantro so it never turns heavy. A gentle place to start if you're easing into Punjabi flavors.
ContainsCashew (tree nut)
Palak Sauce
8 oz jar
Palak Sauce
chicken or paneer
Spinach cooked down low and slow until it turns deeply savory, not just green. A swirl of cream at the end rounds off the earthiness without covering it up.
Desi Sauce
8 oz jar
Desi Sauce
chicken, paneer or tofu
Our everyday, do-anything curry base — a little tomato, a little heat, no fuss. Add water for a thinner curry or hold back for a thicker gravy; it adjusts to whatever you're serving it with.
Korma Sauce
8 oz jar
Korma Sauce
chicken, meatballs, paneer or tofu
Built on yogurt and toasted almond flour instead of heavy cream, so it's nutty and mellow rather than rich. Good with chicken, meatballs, paneer, or tofu — whatever you've got on hand.
ContainsMilk (yogurt), Almond (tree nut)

Questions
Punjabi food at home, quickly
What is Curried Away?
Curried Away makes small-batch Punjabi simmer sauces in Austin, Texas: Tikka, Malai, Palak, Desi, and Korma. They're the same sauces we cook with for our private chef guests at Funjabi Culinary Experiences, jarred so you can make a Punjabi dinner at home in about 30 minutes.
Is this authentic Punjabi food?
Punjabi cooking comes from the Punjab region of North India, and it's the home cooking behind many dishes people know as Indian food. Our sauces are cooked low and slow the way a Punjabi kitchen does it, from the same recipes we serve as private chefs. You just add your protein and simmer.
What Indian dishes can I make with these sauces?
Tikka Sauce for a rich, tomato-and-butter chicken or paneer curry. Malai Sauce for creamy chicken, paneer, or mushrooms. Palak Sauce for palak paneer or spinach chicken. Desi Sauce for an everyday chicken, paneer, or tofu curry. Korma Sauce for chicken korma, meatballs, paneer, or tofu.
Can I use the sauces in other dishes?
Yes, and we encourage it! Try new things with them. Use Tikka Sauce as the tomato base on a pizza, or toss it with pasta for a tikka masala pasta. Have fun with the other sauces in your own favorite dishes too, and let us know what you make.
Are there vegetarian options?
Yes. Every sauce has a paneer option on its recipe card, Malai also works with mushrooms, and Desi and Korma work with tofu.
How long does it take, and how much does a jar make?
About 30 to 35 minutes. Brown your protein for 5 minutes, add the sauce with a little water, and simmer for 15 to 20. Each 8 oz jar serves 3 to 4 people.
